Svitch's founding team went from a workshop in Ahmedabad to 50,000 riders across India in under five years — and they're just getting started.
The three founders — an electrical engineer, an industrial designer, and an operations specialist — started Svitch in a 600 sq ft workshop in 2019. They built the first CSR prototype on a card-table and tested it at a nearby college campus after hours.
The Early Days
The first year was lean: three founders, a part-time intern, and a borrowed welding rig. The first CSR 762 prototype was hand-built using a Bafang mid-drive and a hand-machined frame. It clocked 92 km on its first full-charge test run.
“We did not start Svitch to chase a market. We started because we wanted a bike that didn't exist — and we figured if we wanted it, others would too.”
— Co-Founder, Svitch Motocorp
What Drives Them Now
Five years and 50,000 bikes later, the founders still ride their own CSR 762s daily. The Ahmedabad office has a no-elevator rule — and a daily test ride is mandatory for every product hire on their first week.
